Better item? Built in oven and seperate stovetop or freestanding stove/oven ?
We are looking into replacing a countertop stovetop and a built in oven. I love the look of the big freestanding combo units (like thermador, Viking, etc) and I would love to get one of those and simply turn the nook where my built in oven is into a shelf. We hardly use the oven at all - maybe cookies here and there and of course on the holidays. I would love the extra space of a shelf.
Hubby wants us to replace the same item for the same item - meaning get another counterstop stove and another built in oven.
Any opinions?? Any benefits to having seperate units? Right now, the stovetop is gas and the wall oven is electric.
Personally, I prefer the built-ins. I can't stand the free standing ones. They just look ugly and the built ins are tucked neatly away.
